Book: The Wedding Dress
Author: Rachel Hauck
Basic description: Charlotte owns a chic Birmingham bridal boutique. Dressing brides for their big day is her gift . . . and her passion. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can’t she find the perfect dress…or feel certain she should marry Tim?
Then Charlotte discovers a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new―shimmering with pearls and satin, hand-stitched and timeless in its design.
But where did it come from? Who wore it? Who welded the lock shut and tucked the dog tags in that little sachet? Who left it in the basement for a ten-year-old girl? And what about the mysterious man in the purple vest who insists the dress had been “redeemed.”
Arden’s Thoughts: Traveling through time as we discover how one dress brought four women pure joy on their wedding day will bring a smile to readers’ faces. Finding the perfect dress serves as the pinnacle of many young girl’s dreams and that dream often follows into adulthood.
Charlotte, our protagonist, boasts quite the talent for dressing ladies to meet their groom in elegance and style. However, when it’s her turn to say, “I do,” Charlotte questions everything: her groom, her dress, her wedding.
While praying over her decision in her special spot she stumbles across an estate sale. On a whim, she purchases a trunk that beckons to her and the story unfolds for us.
I actually really enjoyed Charlotte’s story because I can so easily relate. I’m an independent woman who questions life’s gifts way too much. I also really want to make the right, best decision in every aspect of my life. But, sometimes, I just need to relax and let life unfold.
Once Charlotte realizes the truth in what trust actually means, she begins to grow into a really interesting and likable character.
As many women will be getting engaged in the next month or so, I suggest you grab this book as a congratulations gift. Any woman in love will appreciate the women in The Wedding Dress and will enjoy sharing the adventure with them.
